Dynamics 365 Sales Feature #1: Manage activities with ease

Managing activities in Dynamics 365 Sales has gotten easier and smarter with the new improvements. Activity Management in Dynamics 365 Sales provides an efficient way to manage and assign tasks across the team to ensure harmony. The introduction of new improvements provides productive and intuitive ways to manage tasks across the team while ensuring that the team’s tasks are prioritized, organized and delivered. 

With the new improvements, you can:

  • Find activities quickly
  • Navigate activities quickly
  • Update activities quickly
  • Benefit from Calendar view

Find activities quickly

View the activities listed in a newly improved grid.

Advance Filtering to find the right activity quickly

Click on the new Advanced Filter option to create simple to complex filtering conditions and select the right activities.

On clicking Advanced Filter icon, you will be redirected to Popup window of Advanced Filters where can provide the field inputs (E.g. Activity Status: Equals: Open, Scheduled). Click on Apply button.

Search results are shown as below.

Navigate activities quickly

As against the Global Search, 2020 Dynamics 365 release wave 1 has introduced search option at the individual view level. That means you can now get search results for activities within the selected view which will narrow down your search results and gets you the activities you want. Thus, you can navigate activities quickly.

In the above image, we searched for requirement using the view level search within My Activities view and got the relevant results.

Update records quickly

The new Kanban view for activities will improve your efficiency by allowing you to update the records quickly through drag-and-drop facility.

Kanban Configuration:  Click Settings > Customizations > Customize the system.

Select Activity under Entities. Click on Controls tab > Add Control.

You will be redirected to Popup window of Add Control where select the Kanban. Click on Add button.

Then save and publish the changes.

Functionality

Go to Activities (My Activities below as example). Click Kanban view as shown in below image.

In the Kanban view, you can simply drag and drop the activities from one lane to another. At any given point of time you can view 10 cards in each lane. To see more cards, scroll down.

Benefit from Calendar Control

The new Calendar view on activities will allow you see all the activities across the calendar. This will help you organize and prioritize the tasks efficiently across the team.

Calendar View Configuration:  Click Settings > Customizations > Customize the system.

Select Activity under Entities. Click on Controls tab > Add Control.

You will be redirected to Popup window of Add Control where select the Calendar Control. Click on Add button.

Then save and publish the changes.

Calendar Functionality: Open any view of Activities (E.g. My Activities). Click on More commands > Show as > Calendar Control.

You will see My Activities in calendar view. You can switch between daily, weekly and monthly views.
